Summer Assignment

Hello and Welcome to the Summer Assignment Post. Sorry it took some time to get this up. PLEASE CHECK IN BY LEAVING YOUR NAME IN THE COMMENTS SECTION OF THIS POST SO I KNOW IF THERE IS ANYBODY MISSING THIS INFO! Here are your assignments:

1. Read Pageant through Reconstruction to refamiliarize yourself with the history. Fill in any big holes in your notes from last year as you go.

2. We will be nominating 5 people for the U.S. History Hall of Fame from the first part of American history. That said, you will choose two people from pre-Columbian times through Reconstruction. They can be ANYONE you have studied who has impacted American history. Write a one page nomination for each person you choose. Include a brief background of their lives, their contributions to society, and the major reasons they deserve to be in the HoF. Take time to carefully consider all of the people who impacted America during this time frame. Be creative. Do some research. This can be extremely insightful and, dare I say, fun if you give it some real thought.

3. From the time frame listed above: Pick ONE Supreme Court Case , ONE important presidential decision, and ONE major event and create a 5-10 page powerpoint on the subject. Include background, description, and significance slides. You should also have at least one slide that describes the influence the subject has on modern day America.
